The Shores of Academia is intended mainly to raise awareness of some issues that receive insufficient attention in academic research and discussion.

The term 'academia' is to mean communities primarily concerned with the pursuit of fundamental knowledge and understanding.

Unless stated otherwise, the domain of concern is presumed to be the U.S. and information is presumed to be in English. Thus if news coverage is mentioned, it is implied to be by English-language news media in the U.S.

Articles will be categorized according to their primary purpose as follows:

Statement, Analysis, Criticism, Proposal, and Commentary. Possibly Satire.
